From the director that brought us The Sixth Sense, Unbreakable and Signs brings us a different kind of movie. And his first Rated R movie.
I like M. Night Shyamalan's movies but The Happening was a little disappointing. The prevouis movies had great story line,  you cared about the people and great directing. As bad as I hate to say this this movie it didn't have those things. This movie was different from his previous movies. Some of the scenes in the movie was distrubing. Just wasn't his best work.  The Blu Ray disc offers very good video and excellent surround sound track. Handful of extra features with BD-Live Content and a Digital Copy of the movie.

The Story Of The Happening

In this heart-pounding apocalyptic thriller from M. The Audio : This Blu Ray is recorded in 5.1 DTS HD Master Audio. It's got good strong vocals with excellent use of the front and rear speakers and good LEFaction.  A good movie to have up loud.

Principal: Alright, there appears to be an event happening. Central Park was just hit by what seems to be a terrorist attack. They're not clear on the scale yet. It's some kind of airborne chemical toxin that's been released in and around the park. They said to watch for warning signs. The first stage is confused speech. The second stage is physical disorientation, loss of direction. The third stage... is fatal.

Private Auster: My name is Private Auster. I'm stationed at Westover Military Base about ten miles back. I think they've been affected by whatever's happening. I lost communication with them. When I approached the base, I saw military personnel in... the barbed wire in... the fence. So I suggest no one take that road.
Nursery Owner: There's a town about eight miles behind us. There were bodies on the road into town.
Private Auster: Cheese and crackers.
 

Private Auster: [yelling while becoming disoriented] My firearm is my friend! It will not leave my side!

Elliot Moore: If we're going to die, I want you to know something. I was in the pharmacy a while ago. There was a really good-looking pharmacist behind the counter. Really good-looking. I went up and asked her where the cough syrup was. I didn't even have a cough, and I almost bought it. I'm talking about a completely superfluous bottle of cough syrup, which costs like six bucks.

Final Thoughts

This Movie isn't the greatest movie but it's not the worst movie either. It is worth checking out. The blu ray does have excellent audio and video and does have a digital copy of the movie. This movie is a renter and not a buyer. Below is how I rate this Blu Ray Disc. 1 to 5 stars with 5 being the highest.
